D Bakes Cakes

Hi, I'm Dianora - I'm glad you're here!
I am owner, cake, and dessert designer of D Bakes Cakes.

As a native Houstonian that has spent her formative years in the vibrant Montrose area, I relished being surrounded by art, culture, and great food. A daughter of first generation parents, I understand the meaning of hard work, following your dreams, and working every day to make them proud. I am a self-taught baker, who is pursuing her passion, as well as, striving to refine my craft, and set the course for growing my business.

While finishing my liberal arts degree at the University of Houston, I fell into the hospitality industry. Within that 8 year tenure, I dedicated 3 years of my career to the wedding/social industry, assisting in facilitating events, galas, receptions, showers, and weddings. Further along in 2012, I received an amazing opportunity to work in the pastry kitchen under one of Houston’s leading pastry chefs. Without hesitation, I jumped at the opportunity to work with a team of six other talented women also doing what they love most: pastry. Soaking up all the knowledge, skill, and experience over the following two years, I re-discovered my desire to continue in my own pursuit of being an independent entrepreneur. In 2014 I parted ways with the hotel, and a place I truly built an extended family, to start a true focus developing my brand, D Bakes Cakes.

I am always on the lookout for new ideas, trends, workshops, and inspiration. My work inclines to be clean, minimalist, modern, and often boldly artistic (those are the most fun for me). The design/presentation aspect of baking, for me, is a creative outlet. I love to hear your ideas when we collaborate on the best design for your event. I believe we can never stop growing when we’re open to listen and learn.

It has been a steady and fulfilling journey, each year busier than the last. So do reach out early, as the calendar fills quickly. My goal is to have a store front in the future and I’d love to share that journey with you!

Let’s bake!
